What is new in PolyBrute update 2.0?

With the 2.0 FW update, you now have access to an hidden EQ on PolyBrute.



To bring up the menu with eight options to apply an EQ curve to the PolyBrute's sound, please hold the "Settings" button and turn the "Intensity" knob.



The eight options displayed are:

• Bypass: No EQ.
• Presence: Midrange boost.
• Low boost: Boost of bass frequencies.
• High boost: Boost of treble frequencies.
• Hi-Fi Loudness: Emulation of loudness setting on home hi-fi gear. Bass frequencies are boosted at lower volumes.
• Mud Remover: Roll-off of very low frequencies to reduce rumble.
• Low Cut: Similar to Mud Remover but with a higher roll-off frequency.
• High Cut: Roll-off of very high frequencies to reduce sibilance and “sizzle”.

This new setting allows you to invert the shape of the curve of LFO3.



It may be accessed by holding Settings and wiggling the Curve knob in LFO3.



The two options to choose from are:

• Rise: Standard: LFO performs a standard rise.
• Rise: Inverted: LFO performs an inverted rise.

Note: This setting only affects the rising part of the curve; the falling part is left untouched. The Inverted option thus makes it possible to have an exponential rise and a logarithmic fall.

When turning most control knobs, the value is now displayed on PolyBrute's screen.



You will notice that there are two circular arcs, or collars.

The mark on the external collar of the displayed knob shows the value for part A, and the inner collar of the knob shows the value for part B.

The PolyBrute can now memorize and play back chords triggered from one note.



To create a chord:

• Hold the [Polyphony] button and play some notes.
• Release the button when you have entered the desired notes.

Now, all three lights next to the Polyphony button will illuminate, indicating you’re in chord mode.



Pressing any single key will play the chord you entered and transpose it across the keyboard.



To leave chord memory mode, just press Polyphony button again.

If you want to re-enable chord memory mode afterwards, you will have to create a chord again, and follow the steps described above.



You can also save your preset while chord memory mode is enabled, and this setting will be recalled when loading the preset again

The PolyBrute can even perform a type of duophonic aftertouch, in which only the most recent note or notes played, or either half of a split, will be affected by aftertouch.

This is great for soloing with aftertouch over a chord, for example.

This setting can be accessed in Settings>3. Expression Control>3. Aftertouch Settings:

PolyBrute now has a new built-in digital effect: Ensemble.

You can access it like any other Alt (Alternate) Modulation effect: Hold [Settings] and press [Modulation Type].



You can now select Ensemble for the patch you're creating, just like the seven other variations.

Morphée X/Y/Z axes, and Ribbon controller can now send MIDI CC messages:

• Morphée X sends CC 114
• Morphée Y sends CC 115
• Morphée Z sends CC 89
• Ribbon controller sends CC 9

With the new firmware update, you can now play with Analog Accuracy.

This feature allows you to recreate some instability and non-linearity found in classic analog synths.

You can access it by holding the Settings button and wiggling the [Fine Tune] knob.



One the left-hand side, you can set the pitch instability, and you're offered 4 different options:

• Off
• Mild Linear
• Mild Expo
• Wild

Use [Assign 1-4] to select the option that suits your needs.

On the right-hand side, you can choose from different options to apply instability to other aspects, such as:

• Oscillator pulse width
• Filter cutoff
• Resonance
• Envelope times
• Envelope sustain levels
• LFO rates

Use [Assign 5-8] to select one of the following option that better suits your needs:

• Off
• Mild
• Medium
• Wild
