Note
Following this procedure won't void product warranty but make sure to follow it carefully to avoid causing any potential damage to the ribbon and connector.
Make sure to first download the following .zip archive and to extract its content into a single folder:
Once extracted you should end up with the following result:
You should find a .pdf file named "AUDIOFUSE X8 IN_OUT - Firmware Update process.pdf" providing all the needed steps to follow in order to update your unit and two distinct folders containing the updater depending on your Operating System (macOS or Windows).
You will also find below all the steps to follow carefully.
1. Remove the 4 screws on the front panel with a 2mm Allen key.
2. Remove the screw located underneath the unit.
3. Be careful when opening the unit as there is a short flat cable.
Make sure not to pull too hard to avoid damaging or disconnecting it.
4. Now, plug the interface with a compatible USB-C type cable to your computer, connect the power supply to the DC power input on the back of the unit and to a power source.
5. Press on the front panel "A" button to power up the unit and move to the next steps.
Note
On Mac OS, you may be prompted to "Allow the accessory to connect" a few times.
If so, make sure to "Allow" it otherwise device won't be available:
1. Open the “AudioFuse X8 IN & OUT Updater” folder previously extracted.
2. Open the folder matching with your Operating System version (“macOS” or “Windows”) and double click on “afx8-updater” to launch the updater:
-On Mac OS: The update will immediately start.
-On Windows: A driver install pop-up will appear, make sure to click on "Install" and to let the install proceed till the end before closing the Window for the update to start.
3. Select the device you would like to update with the drop-down menu at the bottom of
the interface as shown below:
4. Once selected, click on the “Update” button:
5. Make sure to let the update proceed till the end without interrupting the process:
6. Once done, you will see a message:
Firmware update done - please verify FW version by clicking “check FW version”
7. Click on “check FW version”.
Note
In some situations, a “Device : AFX8 not Detected, please retry” error message may be displayed at the end of the update process, in this case, make sure to just unplug and re-plug the USB cable.
8. Once done you should see the current “FW version: v1.2.1” displayed and a message confirming that the unit is now up to date:
You can now safely unplug the USB cable, gently close the front panel and put the screws back in place.
