Note
First, make sure to always plug the pedal before powering ON the unit to ensure that it will be properly handled.
If any problem still persists:
- Some pedals do have a useful polarity switch below to ensure them acting properly on any kind of controllers. If your pedal does have this kind of switch, just set it to the other position and then give it another try.
- In some situations, and when a pedal does not have any polarity switch, a useful trick may be to also try to press the pedal while powering ON the unit. If this work, it will have to be done on each power cycling of the unit.
If none of these suggestions are working, you can also use the MIDI Control Center to adjust the Min & Max (OFF/ON) Values for the Sustain Pedal input.
Here is how to adjust the Min & Max (OFF/ON) Values for the Sustain Pedal input through the MIDI Control Center:
1. Download, if it's not already done, the MIDI Control Center below:
https://www.arturia.com/support/downloads&manuals
- Then, depending on the controller model:
For KeyLab MKI, MKII or MK3 controllers:
2. Open the MIDI Control Center and click on the Sustain pedal input via the "Controller map" menu
3. Now adjust the OFF (Min) value to 127 and the ON (Max) value to 0.
4. Make sure to save your template and then to drag and drop it on the desired User memory.
5. Finally, make sure to recall the corresponding User memory on your controller for the defined settings to be properly applied.
Your pedal should now act as you expect it to.
Note
The KeyLab MK3 also provides a calibration function which can also help resolving pedal's range and polarity issues (This applies for both Sustain and Expression TRS continuous pedals).
To do so:
-Press "Settings" button
-Open "Global" menu
-Select "Pedal Calibration"
-Select either "Sustain" / "Expression" / "Aux 1" or "Aux 2" Calibration menu
-Then follow onscreen instructions.
For MiniLab 3, KeyLab Essential MK3 controllers
2. Open the MIDI Control Center and go to the "Device Settings" menu:
3. Go to the "Pedal" section and select "Footswitch" or "Sustain" mode and adjust the related "Polarity" option accordingly:
Please note that adjusting these settings will apply them automatically, so there is no need to store them in a Local template and on a device memory for these to be considered.
Footswitch:
Sustain:
Please note also that the available options may vary depending on the product and that products with a single "Control" input (in place of a dedicated Sustain input or separate inputs for Sustain, expression and auxiliary pedals) will allow to use this input for Continuous pedals using a TRS jack such as Expression or Half-Damping pedals (Damper).
These devices will provide two other options:
Expression:
Control:
Make sure to select the correct mode depending on the type of pedal used and the behavior you would like to obtain.
