The term “firmware” typically describes code that runs on custom hardware designed for a particular purpose (like a synthesizer), as opposed to software, which runs on a general-purpose computer designed to do many things.
To install it, refer to the “REGISTER YOUR POLYBRUTE 12 AND INSTALL POLYBRUTE CONNECT” section above.
IMPORTANT
Your PolyBrute Connect needs to be up-to-date in order to work with your unit. To do so, open the ASC and update the PolyBrute Connect.
-Once this is done, launch your PolyBrute Connect software in Standalone mode.
Note
Update cannot be done when using PolyBrute Connect as a Plug-in, make sure to close any DAW where PolyBrute Connect may be currently in use and to then open the Standalone version to proceed with the update.
Then, you have two options:
-
Update it automatically (Connected to Internet):
- PolyBrute Connect is able to download the Firmware directly from the Arturia’s servers, and to install it directly into your unit. To use this feature click on the “Update To Latest” button.
-
Update it manually (Not connected to Internet):
- To update your firmware manually you need to download the firmware file from the PolyBrute 12 “Resources” page. You will find it under the videos section into the “Firmware” section.
- Then, on the PolyBrute Connect “Firmware Update” popup, click on the “Update From File” button.
- Navigate to the file in the dialogue box that will pop up.
- Choose the file, and the process will begin.
WARNING
During the Firmware upgrade, neither disconnect the USB cable between the PolyBrute 12 and your computer, nor power the PolyBrute 12 off.
In the meantime, your PolyBrute 12 screen will display the startup animation several times.
After the Firmware update is successfully done, the Firmware update popup will close automatically.
You can now have fun with the latest firmware!
If you only see the "Poly" led being lit up on the unit, this means that the unit may be stuck in "Bootloader" mode and normally applying the steps below should help restore the unit in a working state.
1) First, if PolyBrute 12 is not detected by PolyBrute Connect or if PolyBrute Connect crashes during the process, make sure to uninstall/reinstall PolyBrute Connect and then to restart your computer before giving it another try.
-Refer to the following article to apply the manual uninstall steps depending on the your Operating system:
How to properly uninstall an Arturia Software?
2) Once uninstalled (and after restarting your computer), reinstall it with the installer available on the page below:
3) Now, apply the following steps:
-Hold "Polyphony" button in the upper left corner while powering up the unit.
You should still only see the "Poly" led lit up.
-Then, check if your unit is being properly recognized after opening PolyBrute Connect and make sure to attempt proceeding from there with a manual firmware reinstall as explained in the above "UPDATE THE POLYBRUTE FIRMWARE USING POLYBRUTE CONNECT" section.
Normally, the "Update from file" option should allow you to manually select the firmware file and allow the update to be applied properly.
Note
In case of any further failures, make sure to also to keep into consideration the following recommendations:
-Avoid using any USB Hub, cable extensions or adapters
-Open the PolyBrute Connect in Standalone mode preferably (Not as a plug-in)
-Try different USB cables and on different USB ports in case the update process would lead to some potential troubles
