The PolyBrute’s firmware is its operating system, much like the operating system on your computer.
The term “firmware” typically describes code that runs on custom hardware designed for a particular purpose (like a synthesizer), as opposed to software, which runs on a general-purpose computer designed to do many things.

Firmware updates can include new features, operational improvements, bug fixes, and other benefits.
There are two ways to see which firmware version is currently running.
The most convenient is to use the PolyBrute Connect editor-librarian software, which is a free download for all registered PolyBrute users. First, make sure your PolyBrute is connected to your computer via USB, and that you have the latest version of PolyBrute Connect.
Click the FW Update button towards the lower right corner of the window.
It will automatically connect to Arturia’s servers and compare the latest available version with the current version in your PolyBrute, like so:
On the PolyBrute, press Settings, then button 8 (Misc.), then button 6.
Then, find the PolyBrute on Arturia’s Downloads & Manuals support webpage. The latest version will be posted there.

PolyBrute Connect is also available on our Downloads & Manuals support page, and runs stand-alone or as a plug-in (VST/AU/AAX).
If the latest version is more recent than your current version, the top panel in the window shown above will display it. Simply click Upgrade to Latest.
Alternatively, if you’ve already downloaded the firmware file onto your computer, you can click Upgrade from File as shown above, then navigate to the file in the dialogue box that will pop up. Choose the file, and the process will begin.
Never disconnect the USB cable between the PolyBrute and computer, or power the PolyBrute off, while a firmware update is in process.
After the progress bar reaches 100%, your PolyBrute will reboot automatically and be ready to play.

Your PolyBrute firmware is out of date and will not work with PolyBrute Connect until updated. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Of course, you can ignore this and play your PolyBrute without PolyBrute Connect involved, but for the two to work together, you need to update the firmware.
